"Greater Bay Area No. 1" is China's first petrol-electric hybrid offshore luxury catamaran cruise ship. It is equipped with a CATL power battery system. Looking at the history of the development of ship electrification, it is not our country that takes the lead, but It is the earliest foreign development of pure electric ships (lithium batteries). For example, Norway is a country with many large-scale electric ship operations, mainly ferries plying island routes.

In terms of the domestic market, statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics show that the total number of motorized ships in 2018 was 125,700, and the net tonnage of Neihu ships in 2018 was 195 million tons. In 2018, the total output value of my country's electric ship lithium battery market was 44 million. In other words, the proportion of my country's ship electrification in 2018 was 0.016%, and the market share was very small.

However, as my country’s power battery development has made great progress, starting from 2019, my country’s ship electrification has pressed the “shortcut button”. Data show that the lithium electrification penetration rate of my country's electric ships reached 0.035% in 2019, more than double that of 2018.

Market analysis believes that by 2025, the lithium electrification penetration rate of my country's electric ships will reach 20%, and the corresponding market size will reach 55 billion yuan.

By 2030, assuming that the lithium battery penetration rate of my country’s electric ships reaches 40%, the corresponding market size will reach 110 billion yuan. This is the 100 billion market for ship lithium electrification!

CATL’s electric ship layout began in January 2019. At that time, CATL signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Classification Society (CCS) Wuhan Standardization Institute in Fujian, marking CATL's entry into the shipbuilding field.

New news shows that in mid-September, the main hull of the 486-passenger Pearl River Cruise pure electric cruise ship equipped with CATL’s 3000kWh ultra-high-capacity battery system will be integrated with the superstructure.

On the eve of this year’s National Day, Fujian Minjiang’s first petrol-electric hybrid tourist ship “Minjiang Star” is about to be delivered, also equipped with a 900kWh CATL power battery.

In 2016, Yiwei Lithium Energy’s marine power batteries have obtained CCS certification from China Classification Society, and in 2019, they have obtained Rheinland explosion-proof certification. At present, about 90% of domestic electric ships are equipped with EVE lithium battery solutions, with more than 200 installed units. They are used in boats in major scenic spots, ferries along rivers and coastal areas, sightseeing ships and inland river cargo ships, port tugboats, river-sea intermodal bulk carriers, etc.

In June 2019, Yiwei Lithium Energy signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Hanshun Shipping Co., Ltd. The two parties will cooperate closely in the development and market promotion of new energy ship technology. This project has created three "big" records: a large batch of new energy bulk carriers, a total of eighteen; a single large new energy bulk carrier, reaching 5,400 tons; and a large river-sea intermodal new energy bulk carrier fleet.

In November 2019, the 300-passenger electric ship "Junlv" jointly released by China Shipbuilding Industry Research Institute and CCS was delivered for use, with batteries provided by Yiwei Lithium Energy. The ship has created many firsts in the industry: it is the first purely battery-powered passenger ship in China to pass the requirements of the China Classification Society (CCS) "Inspection Guidelines for Pure Battery-Powered Electric Ships"; it is the first domestic all-electric passenger ship loaded with large-capacity lithium batteries. In addition to CATL and Everview Lithium Energy, Guoxuan High-tech is also in the field of electric ships The development is also quite rapid. In December 2019, Guoxuan Hi-Tech invested in the acquisition of 51% of the shares of the original Shanghai Wuyang Ship Technology Co., Ltd. and reorganized the latter into Shanghai Guoxuan Wuyang Ship Technology Co., Ltd. Guoxuan Hi-Tech began to enter the shipping field.

In March 2020, Shanghai Guoxuan Wuyang Ship Technology Co., Ltd. received this year’s first batch of orders for three sets of ship power lithium battery systems. This is also the first system order obtained by Guoxuan Hi-Tech since it entered the ship power lithium battery market.

In July, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province launched the country’s first hybrid recreational fishing boat with battery power, and the first two boats were put into use. The ship uses Guoxuan Hi-Tech’s lithium iron phosphate battery system specially tailored for pure battery-powered/hybrid ships.
